About this opportunity:

Within BNEW RCE, the mission of the AI & Emerging Technologies unit is to be an incubator for SW technologies, Generative AI, Embedded AI and Data analytics. That is, we work with prototyping and technology foresight for the product roadmap in RCE, with a special emphasis on unlocking the potential of AI in RAN. In addition, we work cross BNEW R&D on network data, analytics and generative AI – both as distinct technology areas and to enable innovation. The SW Technology incubation mission covers a broad range of topics from fundamentals in computer science (i.e. compilers, programming languages etc) to cloud systems technology and digital twins.

What you will do:

Reporting to the Head of AI and Emerging Technologies within RCE, and part of the unit’s leadership team, the Head of Applied Generative AI leads our research- and development team in that area. The mission is to build a strong Generative AI practice for BNEW, to secure both a major transformation of AI-assisted tooling for R&D (custom LLM’s, agentic RAG and more), as well as laying the foundation for generative models in future RAN products. Responsibility areas also include hyperscale cloud infrastructure to support the team, and technology partnering in the Generative AI area broadly.

The skills you bring:

Strong domain experience in software development, preferably in AI systems engineering, RAN systemization or RAN hardware design
10+ years of product development experience in leading development teams, with a demonstrated passion for innovation
Experience leading supplier partnerships and technology scouting 
Experience driving transformation in R&D organizations
Experience in Generative AI model development, including cloud infrastructure and data science 
Relevant tertiary qualification or commensurate working experience.
Strategic and big picture thinking, with the ability to focus on delivering on your contribution to BNEW R&D today and into the future 
Thrives on accountability, overcoming challenges with a can-do attitude and motivated to achieve beyond expectations 
Collaborates by default and looks to work together rather than compete, also holding your teams accountable for working as one BNEW R&D
