About the Opportunity 

Join Ericsson Research's Device Communication team, where we innovate within the areas of wireless communication technologies for future devices like smartphones, sensors, and XR glasses. We are seeking a passionate Researcher to drive technology advancement and maintain Ericsson's leadership in the industry by: 

• Engaging in cutting-edge research projects focused on wireless communication for emerging devices, including advanced smartphones, sensors, and XR glasses. This includes modem and protocol aspects, as well as signal processing for the evolution of 5G and the dawn of 6G. 
• Creating innovative concepts, solutions, and algorithms with a focus on communication technologies for mobile devices. 
• Sharing research findings through prototypes, concept demonstrations, publications, and patent applications. 

Experience in device implementations related to wireless modems is highly valued. This might include expertise in radio front end solutions or power management and consumption from both hardware and software perspectives. Furthermore, experience with 3GPP standardization as a meeting delegate or back-office is highly meriting, particularly a background in 3GPP RAN1, RAN2, or RAN4 during the 5G and 5G advanced standardization phase. 

You will 

• Conduct research in wireless communication for emerging devices, focusing on new 6G technology concepts. 
• Evaluate future 3GPP radio access protocol features from a device implementation viewpoint. 
• Innovate new technical solutions and secure them with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). 
• Participate in innovation workshops to explore fresh concepts. 
• Support proof-of-concepts and demonstrations of new technologies and solutions. 
• Collaborate within Ericsson, with industry partners, and top-tier universities globally. 

Join our Team

You Will Bring 

• A proven track record of innovations with granted patent applications. 
• Experience from 3GPP standardization in RAN1, RAN2 or RAN4. 
• A PhD with relevant work experience or equivalent industry experience. 
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to learn and adapt quickly. 
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English. 
• A collaborative spirit, initiative, and eagerness to contribute to 6G development. 
• Hands-on experience with building demos and proof-of-concepts, using tools like commercial 5G systems, SW development kits, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.
