DevSecOps SRE - Operations Sapper

About this opportunity:

 

As a key member of Ericsson's Sapper Operational team, the Service Reliability Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of BCSS's evolved cloud-native portfolio as well as exploring new ways of building and delivering solutions, including enabling cloud native “as a Service “offerings.

 

You will be part of our Imagine Possible - a new approach to Operations including ‘Visible Operations’ applying real time Virtual and Augmented realities to provide a wholistic customer experience in a virtual marketplace and enhance internal and customer teams’ ability to troubleshoot using augmented reality.

 

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with the technical people manager and team to maintain high availability, performance, and scalability of Ericsson's services and products. 
  • Contribute to defining and implementing best practices for incident response, monitoring, and automation to ensure system reliability and availability. 
  • Utilize expertise in problem-solving and data analysis to drive continuous improvement in service reliability and operational efficiency. 
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to gather and prioritize requirements, and actively participate in communicating progress on service reliability initiatives. 
  • Responsible for risk management for SRE across all of Sapper
  • Maintain relevant security controls across our service offerings, including identity and access management, data encryption, network security, and application security. Ensure the service complies with relevant security and privacy regulations (e.g., NIST, GDPR, SOC 2, NESAS etc.). 
  • Participate in threat modeling exercises to identify potential security risks and design mitigation strategies. 
  • Participate in security assessments and code reviews to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security standards. 
  • Collaborate with the Security team to develop and implement effective incident response plans, including monitoring, detection, and remediation strategies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, innovation, and learning, while aligning individual contributions with the team's and Ericsson's business objectives. 

 

The additional job functions of all experienced engineers will be to mentor new graduates in the Service Reliability Engineering team and includes: 

 

  • Providing guidance and mentorship to new graduates to help them understand the team's projects, technologies, and best practices, including security best practices.
  • Assisting in onboarding new graduates by sharing knowledge and resources to accelerate their learning and integration into the team. 
  • Offering support and supervision to new graduates as they contribute to monitoring, incident response, and troubleshooting activities, ensuring they gain practical experience while maintaining quality standards. 
  • Creating opportunities for new graduates to participate in cross-functional discussions and collaborative projects to broaden their understanding of stakeholder requirements and industry best practices. 
  • Encouraging a culture of continuous learning and professional development among new graduates by facilitating skill-building activities and providing regular feedback on their performance. 
  • Acting as a role model and promoting a positive work environment by demonstrating effective communication, problem-solving, and teamwork for new graduates to emulate. 
  • Advocating for the career growth and advancement of new graduates by identifying opportunities for them to showcase their abilities and take on additional responsibilities as they gain experience.

 

The skills you bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience is required.
  • Familiarity with process definition, maintenance, training, and auditing.
  • Prior experience leading or participating in an audit from an external certification company for TL or ISO auditing required.
  • Proven track record in implementing AI-driven incident management processes, including analysis of trouble reports.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud computing, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures, including Docker, Kubernetes, and container-based development, including Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience and knowledge in telecommunication systems and mobile services, particularly in 5G, 5G Core Network, and Packet Core technologies.
  • Previous experience working with telecommunication operators. Experience in customer-facing roles.
