Description

Boliden Mines staff function has approximately 300 employees and includes: HR & Sustainability, Finance, Technology, Business Development and Exploration.

As Structural Geologist, you will be responsible for providing structural geology and 3D modelling expertise to ongoing exploration programs, as well as running your own specialized projects and coordinating a variety of R&D efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting and providing expert support in the planning of field mapping and/or drilling campaigns
• Assisting and providing expert support in the collection, management, interpretation and modelling of structural geology data from field and drill core
• Developing the know-how and use of modern 3D modelling tools in the day-to-day operations
• Educating staff in how to collect and interpret structural geology data
• Improving our understanding of mineral systems and their structural geology frameworks
• Coordinating and leading an internal R&D Programme focused on the development of digital tools and workflows for mapping, visualization and modelling of geoscientific data.
• Representing Boliden in external research projects, evaluating project proposals, supervising MSc and PhD students, etc.

We endeavor to ensure mobility within the company and this position will involve some travel and short periods working in other countries. The position is permanent employment, full-time Monday to Friday and based in the Boliden Office. You will report to Manager Exploration R&D.

Education and experience

• We are looking for at least an MSc in Geoscience with a minimum of 8 years' experience within the mining and exploration industry, or with comparable background. A PhD in a relevant field is meritorious.
• You should have experience working with common industry software. Advanced knowledge of Leapfrog, GOCAD and GemPy is an advantage.
• This position requires proficiency in both written and spoken English.
• You are expected to be a skilled communicator and be result-oriented, flexible and capable of working independently and as part of a team, with the aim of contributing to the company's development.
• An EU category B driving license, or equivalent, is a requirement.
